Experience
Donovan is an art director with over 20 years of experience in graphic design and illustration. Having worked in a number of industries, he’s done a little bit of everything. However, his focus is on marketing and publishing for nonprofits, arts organizations, and associations.
Background
Donovan’s path began with an interest in design and a DIY mindset, stemming from teenage years in the indie music scene. His first job as the fourth employee for a startup magazine had him doing everything from designing to delivering each issue. His illustrations have been published in German-language children’s books, displayed 20-feet high on the facade of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and featured on Steppenwolf Theatre Company’s stages. Now, he brings that creativity and ingenuity to BackPocket’s clients.
Community Involvement
Donovan supports local theater and music organizations along with nature/ecology advocacy groups.
In His Back Pocket
When not camped out in front of a computer, you will likely find Donovan building… something — from house projects to bikes to bass guitars. He’ll also be practicing for or performing in one of his three bands.
