Joe Stella

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Experience

Joe brings 25 years of content marketing expertise across diverse industries, including finance, consumer packaged goods, quick service restaurants, nonprofits, retail, and technology. As a frequent contributor, speaker, and advocate in the marketing world, Joe is also a lifelong learner. He’s most passionate about the power of storytelling in creating effective marketing and communication strategies.

Background

After a brief stint pursuing fiction writing, Joe transitioned to editing trade and consumer magazines, community newspapers, and eventually leading an award-winning team of 13 creatives. Before co-founding BackPocket, Joe owned a cafe named Baciami (“kiss me” in Italian), where he perfected his signature tiramisu recipe. Today, as an entrepreneur, he thrives on supporting a talented team of creatives who consistently innovate and deliver exceptional client service.

Community Involvement

Joe is actively involved in his local church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Feed My Starving Children, and other local charities and organizations. His dedication to service earned him the Mayor Richard M. Daley Young Professionals Award for his work with FIERI, a nonprofit organization.

In His Back Pocket

Joe loves to cook. Joe also loves to experiment with new recipes. His family would much prefer that he does more cooking and less experimenting. He also enjoys traveling, scuba diving, and pretty much anything that involves a beach or a boat.

Trust isn’t acquired through a transaction; it’s earned over time through compassion, communication, transparency, and promises kept. The most meaningful work we do at BackPocket isn’t just about what we create — it’s about why we do it. We show up with care, curiosity, and an unshakable belief that our work adds value and meaning to the world around us.
